Breakfast with the Royal Family

After the camera left us alone in the dining room, we finally get to eat our breakfast. It consisted of eggs, bacon, and pancakes, along with tarts. I had to remind myself to use the tongs when I went for a lemon meringue tart.
"Lady Elizabeth?" Maxon called, right as I bit into my lemon meringue tart.
For a moment, I was reminded of my last lunch brawl with twenty-two year-old Aleksei, and our boss, Ezekiel, who we call Boss-Man affectionately, had broken it up. He told me that my ass was grass if I fought one more time and he made us work overtime with no pay for mine and Aleksei's fight. Lunch brawls was our entertainment.
I swallowed and said, "Yes?"
"How do you like the food?" asked Maxon.
I just couldn't help it. "It's a lot better than the food that my family and I usually capture in our family woods. Just last month, we beat a bear to death with sticks and roasted it over a bonfire on the beach while we danced naked til dawn."
Maxon was the only one who laughed, while his parents gave each other strange looks.
"I'm kidding," I said.
"I wouldn't be surprised if it was true," I heard Celeste mutter.
There was awkward laughter all around.
The red-head, America, was giving me the strangest look of all. I think she was probably wondering if I wanted to win or if I had some mental illness. Good.
I noticed how a few people glared at me, probably because Maxon called on me first.
"I told you that she's an interesting girl," Maxon said to his parents.
I tried to ignore some death glares.
"Is that all, Your Majesty?" I asked.
"I was asking about your food," Maxon said.
"Like I said, better than the oatmeal we eat for breakfast," I said.
The king and queen looked a little uncomfortable.
"Each and every day," I added for maximum discomfort. "My siblings and I give a little extra to Alyssa and Adam because they're six-years-old. We usually get a coaster sized portion." I tried hard not to smirk at the slight looks of discomfort on everyone else's face. For a strange moment, I could've sworn I saw slight sympathy come from America.
Everyone went back to eating in silence.
After a few minutes, "Lady America," Maxon called.
"Yes, Your Majesty?" America replied.
"How are you enjoying the food?" Maxon seemed like he was about to laugh.
"Its excellent, Your Majesty," America said and I proceeded to tune everyone out.
I picked at my food, because I lost my appetite at the mention of my family going hungry.
